The Masai Mara Game Geserve in Kenya has everything from the large mammals to ostriches, to tiny birds, and you will meet Maasai tribesmen who will introduce you to their culture, their dance, and their hospitality.
Best Animal Viewing
There is no shortage of animals to view on Safari at Masai Mara. In June, large numbers of Wildebeest, oblivious to the political boundary between Tanzania and Kenya, wander up from the Serengeti, a Game Reserve in Tanzania through the Masa Marai, a Game Reserve in Kenya looking for grass to eat on their great migration northwards. The wildebeest are nomads, constantly roaming in search of the sweetest grass nourished by recent rainfall. They can be seen at various locations as they journey through the Masa Marai until October. By November they are once again on their way southwards, back to the Serengeti where the cycle begins again.
Not only wildebeest, but also gazelle and zebra are attracted by the sweet summer grass at Masai Mara. Thompson’s gazelle as well as Grant’s gazelle can both be seen here, along with Topi and numerous others. Hippos dip and sink in the Mara river and rhinos, ostriches and giraffes are all here to play their part in the great circle of life. The proliferation of game on the reserve draws other animals, birds and insects who come seeking prey. Vultures, crocodiles, lions, leopards and cheetahs are all able to profit from the great migrations to Game Reserves in Kenya.

With so much going on, and so many animals to track and watch, what better view could there be than an aerial one? Imagine drifting across the Masai Mara on a current of early morning air, watching the sun light up Mt Kilimanjaro’s snowy peak in a blaze of pink and orange as you observe down below the early morning stirrings of a pride of lions or watch thousands upon thousands of wildebeest patiently grazing their way across the plains. With the rush of exhilaration still glowing in your face, you can return to your lodge for a catered breakfast.
