Myth Behind Dona Beach
The beach was named after Dona Paula de Menzes, who threw herself off the cliff. She was daughter of a viceroy who committed suicide when refused permission to marry a local fisherman, named Gaspar Dias. According to a myth, it is believed that Dona Paula is buried in Cabo Chapel of the Raj Bhawan and can be seen emerging from moonlit waves, beautifully adorned in pearl necklace. The mystical story related to it, generates interest among the tourist to throng the beach.
