If you are a huge fan of baseball then you can head to the Hiram Birthorn stadium which is in Hato Rey, San Juan, this well-known stadium is where games are very often played. The Caribbean series are also hosted in Puerto Rico and teams from other countries often grace the stadiums and ensure we have a great time at the game.
Tennis is a much-loved sport in Puerto Rico and there are over 100 tennis courts available, the majority of them can be found in the larger hotels, but if you don’t fancy playing there you can always head to San Juans Central Park where there are 17 lit public courts. The courts are open daily and are a great way for you to play a match and feel a part of the Puerto Rican community.
It’s harder to be more energetic than a tennis player, but if you feel like taking up the opportunity to run a marathon then Puerto Rico is the place to be. There are so many marathons and races taking place every year that you will be amazed! Puerto Rico’s most important marathon is the SanBlás Marathon which is held in Coamo during February and is great for competitors and supporters alike. There are 5 other marathons in Puerto Rico every year including the Modesto Carrión in Juncos, and the La Guadalupe Marathon in Ponce. If you want to complete make sure you train hard and get used to the Puerto Rican climate.
Fans of the more extreme sports need not be disappointed, you will have the chance to go rappelling, canyoning and even do a bit of caving in the El Yunque rainforest. Be prepared to explore subterranean rivers, go rappelling down mountains and more. Make sure you take and wear the correct equipment and always check to see if your guides and coaches are fully-trained and legal, this way you know you will be looked after in the event of an accident and your guide will do their best to prevent any happening in the first place. Make sure you find out when and where these excursions are happening and book a place on the team if you need to so you don’t miss out on a great adventure.
